Like many freelancers, I find that it’s important to get out in the morning and work somewhere else to avoid the distractions of home – which is why Coffee Square is my home away from home on many weekday mornings in Malmö.
Located on the Möllevångstorget square, they have a breakfast buffet every weekday for 79 SEK which includes unlimited brewed coffee or tea and a buffet with lots of choices, including grilled mushrooms, baked tomatoes with cheese, lots of cold cuts, cheeses and bread types, and my favourite thing - scrambled eggs with vegetables.
I live a lot in hotels when I travel for stand-up comedy and I’m not a big fan of the ‘fake’ scrambled eggs made from egg powder which most hotels buy cheaply in bulk and serve up to save time and money.
I’ll often stay at Coffee Square around three hours between 09:00 until at least 12:00, getting two of my three meals covered for the day with unlimited visits to the buffet. Coffee Square also has good Wi-Fi and it feels like my work rate is double compared to being at home. Also, their Oreo cheesecake with caramel is to die for.
So if you’re visiting Malmö and you’re tired of your hotel’s boring breakfast with the fake scrambled eggs, if you’re staying in a rental apartment and don’t feel like making breakfast or lunch, or if you have some work to catch up on, Coffee Square is for sure the place to go.
