One of my favourite pastimes when I’m feeling restless, no matter the season or time of day, is taking a stroll in Pildammsparken - it’s especially enjoyable after sunset during the summer months!
In the middle of one of the dams there are three big fountains, launching the water 25 meters up in the air when at full strength. In the evenings, these ever-changing water pillars are lit up by colourful lights. During the summer months, this beautiful installation is taken to a different level and turned into a mesmerizing light show where the three fountains change shape and colour, pictures and clips are projected onto a “screen” made of mist created by fine droplets of water, and as a final touch, it’s all set to music.
All in all, it’s as impressive as it is unexpected and it’s a beautifully put together piece of art that leaves young and old alike with a smile on their face and a lasting impression of wonder.
The Light Show is shown every half hour after sundown during the summer months, the last show starts at 01.00 am. The show is best seen from the stone terraces below the old water tower. Pildammsparken is situated at the heart of the city and is easily accessible by foot.
