Dépanneur le Pick-Up Montreal

Old school goodies

""Dépanneur le Pick-Up" is a Montreal lunch restaurant that serves old-school goodies like sandwiches and burgers. I'm a fan of their pulled pork sandwich."

Le Pick-Up is probably the best depanneur in the ever-expanding Mile-End district (actually it's located in the north part called the Mile-ex; Mile-End + Parc-Extension). The place looks very old school and the staff will always make you feel at home. The vibe and decor remind me a lot of Brooklyn. You can eat at the counter or in the courtyard at picnic tables. There is nothing fancy on the menu, just good old snacks like sandwiches and burgers, but they specialize in natural ingredients and products that are hard to find like gluten-free beers.

On top of serving delicious and affordable food they hold cool events like poultry butchery workshops, how to make sausages, candied fruit workshop and how to make your own backyard smoker. You can check on their blog or website for announcements. Personally, I'm a big fan of their pulled pork sandwich, and if you don't eat meat, you can also have the veggie version.

About me Some will tell you that I’m a designer, others a DJ. Some will tell you that I garden too much while others will point out that I should stop posting photos of my food all the time. I also heard that I’m a wine enthusiast and a good cook, that’s nice. Some still think that I have a band, which would be nice actually. But these days, I spend hours in my studio, making music for the dance-floor. I guess that’s why they invented the moto jack of all trades, master of none. Totally me. Why Montreal? After travelling quite extensively around the world...

"Campanelli" in Montreal has nothing inherently special about it - it's just the coffee place I visit on my way to work! I do like the crowd here, though.
