Some might say Montreal had its heyday in the late 60s and mid-70s. After all, it’s within those years that the city’s subway lines were first built to coincide with the worlds fair and a well-known landmark, the Olympic Stadium, known colloquially as “The Big O” was made for the 1976 Olympics. Perhaps that’s why the city and those who grew up in it seem to have a love affair with all things retro. From second-hand furniture stores to kitsch vinyl shops, vintage stores abound throughout the city. But if you're specifically a second-hand clothing lover, a visit to Eva B would be a good place to start.
Eva B, a five-minute walk from the metro that bears its name, is more than just a run-of-the-mill thrift store. In this one-time bookstore, you can now find two floors of used clothing, toys, movie memorabilia and everything in between, including a cafe. Not only are the prices reasonable, the store has a volume and range of clothing hard to find anywhere else in the city. Even if you’re not in a shopping mood, stopping by to check out the eclectic decor is worth a visit in itself. Watch your head as you pass under the hanging mannequin hands, Laugh at the dozens of dolls attached to the staircase as you get lost in the aisles of organized chaos.
