This is an 80-year-old bakery of the kind from which Santino Corleone (of The Godfather fame) would have ordered, to stock up his pantry for a standoff with other New York families (although there is another great Italian bakery, La Dolce Italia, out in Forest Hills, maybe a bit closer to his home).
Adjacent is The Old Print Shop and the South Asian restaurants of lower Lexington Avenue. Nearby is Madison Square Park from which may be seen beautiful views downtown toward The Flatiron Building and uptown toward The Empire State Building.
