Jajaja (which means "hahaha" in Spanish), is a contemporary and colorful creative Mexican joint just off the F train in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. Specializing in vegan versions of traditional Mexican food, Jajaja is not only delicious and affordable, but also healthy.
The decor inside is filled with light and plants, creating an inviting and bohemian environment. I love the food and atmosphere of Jajaja, and particularly enjoy exploring the art gallery-filled area around the restaurant as well.
The palm carnitas tacos are delicious, and contain an interesting mix of ingredients like jackfruit, blueberry and flax seed tortilla, and cilantro. The rest of the menu is quite extensive and features intriguing dishes like the beet and pumpkin empanada, turmeric cauliflower rice, and coconut queso quesadilla. The nachos seemed quite popular, and make for a great appetizer to share. I want to go back and try more menu items, as well as their cocktails, brunch specials, and dessert!
