Coffee Parisien is a really good bet to have typical American diner food in Paris. I used to frequently go there with my children, now they go on their own with friends...
Youngsters are ready to wait a bit until a table is free for the amazing massive burgers which come at a very decent price for a Paris restaurant. I personally prefer the eggs benedict or the club sandwich, but all the food here is freshly made, top quality and tasty. The staff is very friendly and, it has to be said, nice to look at as well!! Packed on Fridays and Saturdays, it's worth to wait a bit until a table is free. If you like American food, this is your place. Chili con carne, mac and cheese, bagels, milkshakes, pancakes, nachos, or even buffalo wings; all of it is mouthwatering.
The nice thing is that they use paper tablecloth which has in fact a list of all the American presidents with their photo and years of mandate. And it is updated regularly!! Many people take it home as a souvenir.
Their motto is: "We don't do fast food, we only do good food as fast as we can". They do not accept reservations.
The bookshop is in an old car repair shop, which its owner transformed into a welcoming and open space where book presentations and talks take place.
