Les Mots à la Bouche – LGTB bookshop

Le Marais is one of my favourite areas of Paris to wander around. This is how I discovered bookshop Les mots a la bouche (Words in the mouth). Like many other bookshops in Paris, this is a quiet and nice place. I like the smell of books that you feel as soon as you step in and the friendliness of the staff. Like many other independent bookshops, they read plenty of the books they have and you can always have a chat about recommendations and novelties. They also put little paper cards on top of the books they liked most with their personal opinions about them.

As an LGTB-focused bookshop it is the best place to look for printed material of any kind related to homosexual and lesbian issues: books, reviews and magazines, but also DVDs and cartoons, everything you may think of is there. They have an English language section and also a website were you can buy and also reserve and collect in the shop. The basement is a sort of museum with all the nicest books you can imagine about the subject, but also on art, photography, fashion…

This is a thematic bookshop but it also has general books which are not LGTB-related. I strongly recommend you drop by, you will discover nice things, and will spend a good time there.
