What is a pide? It's a Turkish pizza! I am Franco-Turkish and I go to Turkey every year to see my family. I have known them since my earliest childhood. They are flat, thin, long pizzas that are cut into slices. In Turkey most of the time the ingredients are simple: you can choose between minced meat, cheese, eggs and you can make a mixture of two ingredients.
In Paris, I had never eaten pide like in Turkey, until I discovered the small restaurant Pide Paris which is located in the less touristy district of Strasbourg Saint Denis. Here the pide are made on demand by Turks as in Turkey. The ingredients are a little more varied than in Turkey, and the pizzas are very good. In addition, the restaurant offers really cheap packages.
If you go, IÂ recommend you drink an ayran with your pide. This Turkish drink made from salted yoghurt is very typical. Only problem: the restaurant is very small, so I advise you to come early and not in groups of 10 people!
