About me
I’m an English prof and mostly teach essay and research paper writing. I study French and spend most summers in Paris (a great thing about teaching is summers off!) and take short trips to other areas of France and Italy. I love traveling and learning about other cultures and people! I am also a cinephile and art and music nut and enjoy cities most. I’m an activist and am passionate about sustainability and how it intersects with confronting racism and inequality.

Why Philadelphia
I moved to Philadelphia when I was 18 for art school to study filmmaking and fell in love with the city. Philly folks are, in general, very direct and can be a bit rough around the edges (it’s always been a pretty working-class city) but we also have a lot of heart and city pride. The city is incredibly diverse and that is a big part of why we decided to raise our kids here. We are also a solid Blue (democrat) city and are not shy about fighting for our rights. We take pride in our beautiful parks, museums (The Barnes, Philadelphia Museum of Art), the Philly sound and our world-renowned orchestra and jazz and hip-hop culture, in our distinct neighborhoods and architecture and farmers markets, local craft beer breweries, our universities and hospitals and, of course, our amazing food culture of local BYOB restaurants offering every kind of food you can imagine. I love that I can walk out of my building, grab a coffee to drink in the lovely Rittenhouse Square and hop on my bike after for a ride along the Schuykill River.
