You probably already know Philly is famous for its cheesesteaks, but who has the best cheesesteak? Pat's? Geno's? Jim's Steaks on South Street? Sonny's? John's Roast Pork? Wrong, wrong, WRONG. It's Dalessandro's in Roxborough.
This is no tourist trap. Yes you'll wait in line, but you'll be waiting with locals who know this is the place that's worth the wait. The steak? Fresh and finely chopped. The roll? Of course it's an Amoroso's. There's no other option if you want the real deal.
A piece of advice: Cheese Wiz on a cheesesteak is sublime, I promise you. Do not be afraid. How to order it? Wiz wit, as we like to say. If you order it with provolone, just know that's how they do it in Jersey.
Listen, the never-ending argument we have in Philly over who does the best cheesesteak is one you'll want to win, so get yourself to this gritty corner on Henry Avenue and order one already.
