If you are looking for rich and creamy ice cream, then look no further than the line around the corner of Franklin Fountain. By looking at it, you would swear it is the oldest ice cream shop in America since they have paid attention to every detail to make the shop look and feel like an old soda fountain. Even the soda jerks behind the counter make you feel like you have stepped back in time. Properly situated in Old City, Franklin Fountain fits in with the other old buildings and historic shops. The ice cream they serve up has made quite a name for the place, as if you couldn't tell by the almost constant line out the door.
All of the ice cream they serve is homemade. The flavors range from something you could find at any other ice cream shop, like peanut butter and hydrox cookie, to flavors they would have served back in the day, like teaberry gum and rum raisin. Franklin fountain not only has ice cream, but also serves homemade soda. Don't come in here looking for a Coke since all of their sodas are handmade in front of you as you wait.
So next time you want to feel like you just stepped back in time and want some freshly made ice cream or a fizzy soda, belly up to the bar and get an old fashioned banana split or ice cream soda.
