It is with great pleasure and honor that I write this article about one very special place in our beloved Porto. It is one of those icons which unite generations through the time, as I still listen to stories told by my parents about Casa Agrícola in their youth.
At first sight, this bar/restaurant/club seems immediately particular, mainly because of its beautiful facade from the 18th century, or maybe due to the presence of a baroque chapel just attached to it. This house once belonged to a farm that occupied the entire surrounding area, which nowadays provides a small bridge to the history of Porto. Even if "Agricultural House" may not be the flashiest name, believe me that if you ignore this, you will be pleased!
The house is composed by four divisions open to the public: 2 rooms for having a pleasant meal or have a lively chat with your friends; 1 dining room on the first floor for a more special service and gastronomy; and an outdoor but covered area if you prefer to breathe in some fresh air. It is really an "All-in-one" place: you can have breakfast, and then read a book or newspaper outside, just before a light and delicious lunch.
Later on, maybe turn to watch a football match with friends, have a memorable dinner with your better half at the restaurant and then socialize through the night at the bar. Hum, I wonder how I got this idea...!
