Following the trend of vegetarianism and veganism, which aims to bring some quality and sustainability to our daily life, “O Macrobiótico” opened its doors with the goal to allow patrons to “shut down” and just appreciate the present moment. Due to its good location, easy access (especially for me, as it is my neighborhood!) and theme, I just had to give it a try.

I must say that I immediately became a fan and got addicted to this space and gastronomical concept. The restaurant offers an amazing, peaceful atmosphere with selected jazz as background music, away from the buzz of Campo 24 de Agosto. Once you go through their door, you will find relaxation and the inviting aroma of their goodies.

Every meal, cake, juice or tea are prepared according to the vegan cuisine, which translates to “healthy, but delicious”. This includes the daily menus at lunch time, which always vary, as well the natural and seasonal fruit juices. All cakes are sugar free, and they also produce a homemade bread, only with natural and wholesome ingredients.

On Saturdays they have a different motif for their menu: vegan version of Francesinha (one of Porto’s gastronomical icons), hamburgers, seitanitas (“bifana” but with seitan) and World cuisine experiences (Italian, Thai, Japanese, etc). This is the day for gluttony, never neglecting the health.
