OpenBox gives name to a cultural association that occupies a very interesting space, situated in Miguel Bombarda Street, considered to be the main art spot of Porto. Alive and kicking since 2013, this place gathers a bunch of ideas from their original creators, at the same time it opens its doors to new proposals from outside collaborators. The OpenBox space is divided into two main areas: The "Linha Preguiçosa" (Lazy Line) atelier, and the "Pandora" Terrace. Â
Linha Preguiçosa is a work studio turned to arts in general. There are workshops of many themes and subjects as well as mentorships for certain projects and teams. Together with this, it also works as a selling point of author pieces. It is a mutable space, where art is an omnipresent element. As an example, the last time I visited it, there was a workshop for stylish haircutting.
Then you have the Pandora Terrace, which is an "oasis" in the city center of Porto. With different plant species from all over the world, you feel this sense of chaotic peace, just like nature provides. Along with this, on the terrace or inside their winter garden, you should try the delicious vegetarian lunches they present.
The musical events take place on most Saturdays, with invited DJs, improvised jam sessions and sunset sessions, always with free entrance, and every time supported by their open kitchen producing tasty veggie snacks.
I’m sure that Pandora would like to receive this box as a gift! :)
