When my friend used to work here as a bartender, I was here all the time sitting at the bar. These days I visit Kavárna ideál with a sense of nostalgia and I have to say this place hasn't changed. The very cozy atmosphere of this spot near square Náměstí Míru in Prague is enhanced with dimmed lighting, nice music and makes you feel great.
When drinking beer (Bernard or Pilsner Urquell on tap) I still spend a great deal of time looking at interesting and almost psychedelic paintings and figures hanging on the walls. When ordering something, I have to look at the wall again, because the entire menu is written in between the artworks. This place is more about drinking, so when hungry, only small dishes are served (for example ham & cheese toast).
The place looks small at first, but there is also another room with plenty of seating downstairs for more-light-lovers.
