If you are looking for a little adventure and are craving a good microbrew, Flying Lion Brewery is my recommendation. Although its off the beaten path for many, the brewery is worth a short drive down to Columbia City.
Founded by four brothers and their father, who is a food chemist, there is no question that their beers are spot on. My amber was excellent. The atmosphere is great and the brothers are enthusiastic about showing you the brewery and how they made that delicious pint you are sipping.
Their ingenuity really shines through in the very unique installment they hand built for the brewery. The bike powered grain mill lets you the customer help with the brewing process while pedaling away those extra calories at the bar. It's fun to see this brewery establish itself in a very diverse neighborhood, with customers and owners alike thoroughly enjoying the process.
