Fran's is a local legend, much like Dick's Drive-In. We love her chocolate treats and she's so successful that many grocery stores around here carry her famous salted caramel chocolates. To get more of an experience, visit one of her stores in Seattle.
The newly-remodeled University Village shop offers something for everyone. I like their tasty hot chocolate in the winter, although you should drink it on an empty stomach as it's decadently rich. (If you choose to top it with whipped cream, you can probably skip your next meal.)
Fran's Chocolates has a wide selection of chocolates and other treats so feel free to ask for help if you have any questions. If you'd like to sample something before buying it, just ask as they're usually quite accommodating. You can mix-and-match different flavors and create your own customized box- I've given boxes as gifts on occasion.
I may not be as enthusiastic about chocolate as the average human being, but when I do get a craving for a sweet-and-salty combo, Fran's caramels get my vote.
