As a lifelong classical music fan (and musician), I've often wished that more people could have the opportunity to see just how accessible and beautiful the music can be. I was thrilled to discover Groupmuse, an online community that connects classical musicians with hosts willing to put on concerts in their living rooms!
I attended my first Groupmuse for a timely Veteran's Day program of war and peace themed music. I was hooked on the relaxed and intimate setting, the talented musicians, and the opportunity to meet other fans of classical music. There is everything from classical guitar, to string quartets, to piano soloists.
Musicians often get the short end of the stick and Groupmuse does an excellent job supporting them. Tickets are $20+ if you attend a performance, and 100% of your money goes directly to the musician(s) you heard play!
Groupmuse is available in a handful of cities, including Seattle, and is picking up momentum across the country! Since they are adjusting to pandemic restrictions and some concerts are still virtual, it is best to consult the website for their offerings. Enjoy!
