Standard Brewing started as a humble operation with a tiny tap room with a huge tap selection. Thirteen, last time I checked. Other Seattle brewers tell me they brew one of the best IPAs in the city and I can agree. The atmosphere is neighborly and seating is less limited now but you are still bound to meet your neighbors and rub shoulders with locals.
Standard is no longer the tiny three barstool tap room and has stepped it up. It just opened a new, much larger, tap room next door and is serving sandwiches and liquor. This means more patio space and elbow room! Don't worry it still keeps its cosy feel.
On game days they fire up the projector so you can cheer on the Hawks or the Sounders. Do be prepared to wait, the bar tends to be understaffed and with the expansion traffic has increased.
The Central District is often overlooked, but there are some hidden gems and Standard is definitely one that raises the bar here in the neighborhood.
