Tucked away on the edge of 15th street and marked only by a crested C, I've unknowingly walked by the Canterbury many times. This low key vibe is exactly why this pub is a neighborhood favorite. Modern with a medieval flare, inside the bar is quite inviting and on a sunny day it's nice to sit by the open panel of windows, people watching and enjoying one of the 30 beers on tap.
Personally this is one of my favorite places to start the night or unwind after work. They have one of the best happy hours on Capitol Hill. Grab a pint on tap for half price or wells for $3. They also have a full kitchen serving slightly more sophisticated versions of your standard bar fare. A favorite is the pulled pork roll or the Irish nachos, think baked potato toppings over fries. To top it all off the staff here is great, super sassy and fun to shoot the breeze with.
Low key enough to have a conversation or if you feel up for a friendly challenge there's free, shuffleboard, darts and pool. Also its a good place to watch whatever sports game is on. No matter what, the Canterbury and 15th street are worth a stroll for an unpretentious scene and some local flair.
