This institution has a long history (keep in mind that it opened in the year 1972). In the last 6 years it has legitimately become the only alternative place in Skopje where lots of things happen almost every day. Concerts, exhibition, performances, festivals, promotions… MKC (Youth cultural center) offers a wide pallet of events for all age groups and interests, supporting the non-mainstream scene and especially the young artists from our country. It is my favorite place in Skopje and there are a lot of reasons why…
First, it is located next to the river Vardar where it’s very quiet from all sides, with trees and little parks. That’s why I love to visit in the morning and drink coffee outside the bar located on the ground floor of the building. The sky is wide open, I have a panoramic view on the mountain Vodno and the sun shines all day. And I always meet someone who is willing to chat about art, music or movies.
The second reason I adore MKC are the awesome music festivals and amazing line ups (where we have a chance to see performances by many world famous musicians), a film and a theater festival and many other events dedicated to all kind of arts.
MKC has become a gathering place for people who believe that good music, quality movies, literature and arts can and will change the world in a better way.
