My sister-in-law introduced me to this place. Even though it’s in quite touristy Gamla Stan (old town) I found myself surrounded with local tea party people. Afternoon tea is an obvious trend in Stockholm and is perfect for the chillier times of the year. Teahouse Chaikhana serves first-class teas from around the world, even during the rest of the day.
Whole and genuine afternoon tea is served here in both French style and English. The food options are varied with scones, sandwiches (I had a great clubby), brioches and a bunch of lovely pastries and even bubbles.
Chaikhana was actually the first in Sweden to serve afternoon tea and since 2004 the tea house can rep an ambitious and authentic tea concept. In cosy rooms decorated with hundreds of teas, tea-drinking remains a social activity. Clean and mixed teas from all corners of the world really appeal to me!
