Farmers own market (bondens egen marknad) is a popular market concept where local farmers sell their own produce. If you are lucky enough to visit during the open dates, it is certainly worthwhile.
There are a few different options around Stockholm, but the one I like visiting is located on Katarina Bangata on Södermalm in Stockholm. The spring market is open every Saturday from 10:00 to 15:00 in May, and the autumn market is open every Saturday from the beginning of August to the end of October.
There is also a Christmas market during the 4 Saturdays leading up to Christmas. Depending on the season, one can find goodies such as cooked crayfish, fresh mushrooms from the forest, honey or vegetables grown in the area. Similar markets to check out are the markets at the open-air museum Skansen and the one at Tessinparken.
To visit the farmers' own market on Södermalm you take the green subway line heading south, 4 minutes from the Central station and get off at Medborgarplatsen. Then it is a few hundred meters walk to Katarina Bangata. Alternatively, if you come by car, you can park in the Åsögaraget on Blekingegatan 55. The price for parking there is 30 SEK per hour.
