Entering the door to Söders Hjärta ("The heart of the south") is like a comforting hug when met by a warm interior and timeless atmosphere. This genuine local pub has been pulsating on Södermalm for over 40 years, even having ABBA as dinner guests back in 1977.
Söders Hjärta has had the same owner as from the start, that is for many decades, until some years ago though when new ones took over. Fortunately, they've done a good job maintaining their soul. The sense that nothing really has been touched since its early days, is what I love about this place. Apparently, Söders Hjärta is also one of the best bars for having a first date. You spot them everywhere in here, these cute yet a bit "cringe" sights. I even know friends who come here together for "first date-spotting", as entertainment whilst having a beer.
Pay a visit on a weekday afternoon if you want some calm, and closer to the weekend if you prefer more puls. Because Söders Hjärta often turns into a vivid bar, with a DJ playing and once in a while even live gigs.
