Friday is my favorite day of the week, especially when we get nice sunny days during the winter, with a temperature of around 20℃ it's a perfect day to grab a beer in the trendy Lewinsky Market area. In Israel people usually get Friday off work so it is very common to see friends gathering and having some drinks during the day.
Pimpinella is one of the perfect places for this purpose, named after the anise plant. Pimpinella's specialty s drinks and cocktails with anise from all over the world - like Arak (Middle eastern), Ouzo (Greece), and Sambuca (Italy). The food at Pimpinella is great and fresh, my favorite dish was herring with potato and sour cream - simple and delicious, or the classic fish and chips with a cold beer.
The word for a party or social gathering with food and alcohol in Israeli slang is "Khafla" (from Arabic) and at Pimpinella, you definitely feel like you are in one. The Mediterranean music alongside people drinking, singing, and dancing together over a sunny Friday evening is the best way to start your weekend in Tel Aviv.
