Loft. From the outside it looks just like your average pretty neighborhood church. On the inside, though, it is much more. The previous Jeruzalemkerk in the heart of The Hague’s quiet, green Vruchtenbuurt, was taken over and converted by two private entrepreneurs in 2017. Now it is a place where you can really have a great time: you can come for a coffee or a local beer and sit on the beautiful terrace overlooking a little pond, watching the ducks and green parakeets.
In winter, you can sit inside the church between the artworks, enjoy a delicious meal or cocktail and marvel at the architecture. Or you could come on a Thursday evening for live music and lots of good vibes. Loft also rents out private rooms to stay overnight, has a fair-trade coffee roastery and an organic chocolate shop inside. Oh, and if you’re craving something a little more active: there’s a yoga studio inside too. Ever practised yoga in a church? Loft offers yoga classes in both Dutch and English and also yoga teacher training courses. It’s a place worth seeing and pretty easy to get to - about 20 minutes cycle from the center by bike or a short tram trip (Tram No. 3, stop “Zonnenbloemstraat”).
Insider Tip: Try the “Loft breakfast” between 10:00 and 11:30 for a delicious, nourishing start to the day. If you’re swinging by later, make sure to try out the “Loftini” cocktail.
