Maybe you’ve heard about speciality coffee or maybe you’re a complete coffee aficionado and can’t live without your daily flat white. The attention on specialty coffee still seems to be growing, but have you ever heard of speciality chocolate? If not, now is the time to try. Single origin, bean-to-bar, craft chocolate — that’s what they promise, and that’s what they deliver!

The owners of The Chocolate Shopare Sanna and Ray, both of them certified chocolate sommeliers and experts in the field of bean-to-bar craft chocolate. This delightful couple started The Chocolate Shop in The Hague’s beautiful Vruchtenbuurt area (to the west of the city centre) a couple of years ago. The Chocolate Shop is so much more than a shop: there are a couple of chairs inside and benches outside (beautiful when the sun is out!); apart from chocolate, you can get coffee, ice cream, pralines and little gifts. A must-try is one of their hot chocolates. Whether it’s to sit in or take away, make sure to make time for that: your taste buds will thank you.

The Chocolate Shop’s owners are always happy to provide information about the differences between each (hot) chocolate, so if you’re unsure what to order or overwhelmed by the description of flavours, let them guide you through it! Check out their Instagram account for regular tastings, workshops and food pairing events with tea, coffee or beer.
