As an environmentalist, I knew I had to check out Arcadia Earth as soon as it opened and I was not disappointed! It’s a multi-sensory experience that combines creative art installations and immersive technology to teach visitors more about protecting our planet and inspiring them to take action towards a more sustainable future.
Upon arrival and ticket purchase, which I recommend booking in advance to guarantee entry, you’ll be asked to download the Arcadia Earth app. Then, throughout the approximately one hour experience, you’ll visit several different rooms, each with its own focus on threats to our precious planet, such as electronic waste. In each of the rooms, the app acts as an interface to scan symbols on the floor/walls that bring up interactive learning opportunities on your phone or one of the iPads they have available to borrow.
My favourite room is the plastic pollution one (pictured) because of the awesome art installation it displays and how it gives visitors an opportunity to calculate their carbon footprints while also displaying a variety of ways we can take action towards building a better world. Once you’ve completed the experience, be sure to check out their market filled with planet-friendly products and other stores in the cool shopping centre that surrounds Arcadia Earth, known as The Well.
