Located on the popular Toronto strip known as the Danforth, this stunning store sells everything you need to start living sustainably! Stop in for something from their low-waste cafe, grab a bulk-bought snack in a reusable container (brought by you or borrowed), or shop for sustainable swaps. I especially love their litterless lunches in a jar, bulk BBQ chips, and fresh, locally made sweet treats!
This type of store is also known as a refillery, and so, is where I do the majority of my zero-waste shopping… From bamboo toothbrushes and bulk bought toothpaste to soap, shampoo, and conditioner bars, and package-free produce and freezer finds like fruit. I typically bring my own containers to buy these things but you can also borrow jars or use the brown paper bags they have available.
They also have items that are great for gifting available, from do-it-yourself kits to plantable greeting cards, and seasonal finds like flower bouquets. And if you’re looking to find other items to give or treat yourself too, you don’t have to travel far, as there are great spots for locally made, artisanal products nearby. Just West of Bare Market is Good Intentions, a shop that features products produced by women-owned micro businesses. Further East on Danforth is Arts Market, which hosts handmade goods from a variety of local vendors, from jewelry to pottery and candles to artwork.
