Ah, summer! The most wonderful time of the year – in my opinion. Summer in the city is often not so nice – too hot with all the concrete, dusty and dry. Luckily, Vienna has many green areas, including the Danube, the surrounding hills and hiking paths, and, of course, the bustling Donaukanal. And every year, you can find the Summer Stage there.
The Summer Stage is like a summer outpost of several Vienna restaurants in the form of a huge terrace next to the Kanal. It is open from May till mid-September, and you can find all sorts of different cuisines there – French, Spanish, Italian, or your typical Austrian. Sometimes there is a band playing or a game is streamed – either way, it's fun and the location is very convenient. It is right next to a metro station and basically in between 4 districts.
It is quite popular since it can accommodate large groups by combining tables, but there is also always a table available for a spontaneous beer with wedges on a warm summer night.
