The MOMA of Yerevan (aka MAMY) is truly an interesting place to visit. Tucked away behind a row of uninteresting shops, the museum is more than meets the eye. From the outside, the building housing the museum is nothing special - it is located on the ground floor of a pretty much boring, Soviet, multifamily, high-rise. Some street art (mostly murals and graffiti) decorate the exterior, indicating you are at the right place. Looks can be deceiving however as this museum is fairly large. I was personally impressed at both the museum's size and quality of exhibitions. What struck me most was how cheap this museum was - around 300 drams!
Regarding the exhibitions, you will find all sorts of art at the museum. There are paintings that date from the 1940s onward. Works by both local and diasporan Armenians are exhibited. You will also find sculptures and other kinds of eclectic artwork as well. Last but not least, right across from the museum's entrance there is the photography/special exhibitions gallery.
For art lovers, this is definitely a worthwhile place to check out!
