When I lived in Munich, going out for brunch was a main part of the weekend. We were hoping to continue that tradition in Zagreb, but we couldn’t find a place that served breakfast that consisted of more than croissants and coffee.
A month after we moved to Zagreb in 2017, Eggspress opened. I admit to being skeptical at first because the concept of a restaurant serving eggs only didn’t sound like something which would survive for too long in Croatia. Luckily, I was wrong.
Eggspress is the only place in Zagreb (so far) which serves breakfast food every day of the week until 15:00. Eggs Benedict, poached eggs with salmon and spinach, various omelets… if you’re craving eggs in any shape or form, you’ll be happy here.
Prices are slightly high for Croatian standards, but the portions are so generous that you won’t have to eat again for another 24 hours. It’s located quite centrally and the fact that it’s in a cellar means it’s cool in hot summer as well. Dog-friendly, kid-friendly… Add a Mimosa (or two) to the mix and you might never want to leave.
