Often, while travelling, I wondered about the difference between being a “traveller” and a “tourist”. Being considered a “tourist” sounded almost offensive. Travellers are, in my opinion, people who fully emerge themselves in the culture of the country they’re visiting, rather than only visiting the highlights and popular tourist destinations.
If you consider yourself to be a “true traveller” you can’t possibly miss stopping by Vrutak. This is a place where anyone who cares about quality alcohol goes. And it’s not a bar. It’s a shop with the biggest selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in the city (they sell some food as well, but I have a feeling it’s just there to accompany the drinks).
There’s absolutely nothing fancy about Vrutak. It resembles a warehouse with shelves and shelves full of different bottled drinks at affordable prices. But it’s a place full of wonder.
Before you have friends over or while planning a barbecue on one of Zagreb’s lakes, make sure you stop by Vrutak to find the best craft beer and wine from all over the world in one place.
