It’s a difficult legacy that Kasheme has taken on: for nearly 20 years, legendary Acapulco Bar drew the crowds at Neugasse 56. When its closure and subsequent re-opening with a new name and new concept was announced, many (among them yours truly) were sceptical.
Luckily, the people behind Kasheme had been busy building their own legend with a members-only bar and lounge off Langstrasse. Their mix of living-room atmosphere and eclectic music policy works a treat at the new location as well. If you’ve known Acapulco, you can still recognise it in the interior, but at the same time Kasheme has already made its mark and makes you forget it hasn’t always been there.
This is a place to meet friends and listen to music you may have never heard before. In other words, it’s your home away from home – only with a better selection of drinks and music. And have I mentioned they have their own record store on the premises? So let me rephrase that: it’s your better home away from home.
