…not exactly. However you will find vines in this tavern. It was a common practice to have vines covering the roofs of yards in order to create a rich shadow during the summer. You will definitely still see that on your walks around the island villages & towns.
Klimataria is one of the oldest taverns in the city center, staying unchanged throughout the years. The wine barrels are still decorating the place, the food is typical Greek/Athenian cuisine, the people range from old to young, from whole families to young couples and joyful groups of friends.
Visit Klimataria for a Sunday lunch and you will have some great food and an extra taste of a typical, Greek family Sunday meal. There is also live Greek music on Sundays for an extra € 3 per person and some dancing might take place – you know the original thing, not the one with smashing plates and dancers dressed in black & white. On your way in, take notice of the 3 “Dutch ovens” that cook some of the most delicious dishes of Klimataria.
Enjoy!
