I died and went to pinball heaven! Okay, that may be overstating it just a bit, but it is pretty darn close to what I thought when I happened to find a parking spot directly in front of Free Gold Watch – located in the Haight neighborhood.
What’s Free Gold Watch you ask? It’s an interesting conglomeration of screen printing in their back room and a few dozen classic pinball machines in the front. I didn’t count them, but there seemed to be a row that stretched as far as the eye could see. They claim to be the City’s largest pinball arcade, and I’ll take their word for it.
So head over to the Haight and channel your inner pinball wizard at this slightly off the beaten path joint. Between the bells, balls, bumpers and lights, I was having flashbacks to my youth and the countless hours and quarters spent at my local arcade.
Free Gold Watch is just a hop, skip and a jump from Golden Gate Park and a mere block off of the lively Haight street scene. I found it to be the perfect place to drop a few quarters and let the good times roll.
