I feel obliged to discover new places in my new city district, Praga, enter new spaces, encourage other people to come here to take a look at its brilliant possibilities, uncomplicated and joyous, lavish culture. Dom Kultury Praga seems to be a wonderful example of great new trace of new possibilities I found in my district.
Probably most of us (Poles) have very vague memories from our childhood when our parents sent us to one of Warsaw’s DKs so that we learned to play the guitar, singing, English, or whatever it was. My memories aren’t very pleasant. The teachers were quite strict, unsuited to teach children, unpleasant and unwilling to fit their set programme to the interests of the little ones.
Dom Kultury Praga immediately wiped out that bad experience in my head. I went there on a Friday evening to enjoy PentheMurder by Kropka Theatre. And do you know what…? I find it amazing and utterly invigorating that there is a group of people in Warsaw who have time and who are willing to play 1) von Kleist 2) in English 3) in front of a small audience 4) for free 5) on a Friday evening. Thanks to such people, there is hope for small theatres, just as there is huge admiration for such places as DK Praga.
