Every summer, the city of Antwerp organizes a special treat: an outdoor cinema under the starlight, with a view of the Schelde River and a selection of great movies screened nearly every night in August. And guess what? Entrance to this amazing and magical cinema is completely free!
The movies that are shown are not your typical Hollywood blockbusters but instead a selection of cool and artsy indie movies. Fair warning: movies are always shown in their original language, with both Dutch and French subtitles. Hence, make sure not to go to a movie where you end up not understanding any of the available languages (it did happen to me when going with non-Dutch-speaking friends).
The atmosphere there is really cosy: there's a bar to get some drinks and snacks, but you can also bring your own! Also, some blankets and pillows are provided, though you might want to consider bringing some yourself since you have to sit on the ground and you might need that extra comfort. For the rest, I really couldn't recommend this cinema enough, it'll make for a great evening!
