Dear,
This library, named De Poort, is a cosy one where you can just walk in and get yourself a magazine, drink your own coffee or just hang out a bit. They have an inside space and an outside terrace for when the weather is better. In front of the library is also some well-designed wooden geometric landscape architecture. I personally know somebody who helped design this! This person and I both go to the painting academy on that square! So when you come here, know that in the building next to the library, a possibility exists that I am painting over there. :)
The employees are very kind. Sometimes, they organize something extra. For example, one time, before I went painting, they gave free pancakes inside. The music academy is located on the upstairs levels of the building, so there is a good chance you will hear some music being practiced.
They also organize events, but they are mostly in Dutch. If you think that might interest you, here is the link: Welkom | Antwerpen.be
This is not an area most tourists tend to go to, but it is approximately 15 minutes walking from Berchem station in one straight street, and there are some nice bars and multicultural snacks (like Baklava) waiting to be tried.
