For all the book and wine lovers out there! This is my favourite bookshop in the city, and I ensure you the moment you walk in you realize this place is something special. High ceilings, shiny chandeliers, and cases filled with a lovely selection of books. And yes, this place is excellent for non-Dutch speaking people as well, because they have a great English section. After choosing a book yourself or getting advice from one of the friendly staff members, check out the bar upstairs. For every purchased book you get 50% off of a glass of wine, and they do have nice ones: up to this point, this place is the only one where I've ever seen orange wine. Not white, red, or rose but orange!
With stylish furniture and classical music in the background, the bar is the perfect place to start reading your new book and escape the busy, technology-driven city life. The idea of escapism is also where the bookstore gets its name from. "Luddite" describes a person opposed to new technology or ways of working. So if you need a break from modern life, make sure to check this place out and indulge in the sweet pleasure of books and wine.
