This market has a special place in my heart. I moved to Antwerp in the middle of the Covid19 Pandemic when all restaurants, cafes and bars were closed. Hence, this outside market was one of the few places to escape to, to enjoy the vibrant coming-and-going from people and some great lunch options.
Every Saturday and Sunday merchants build up their stalls here to offer you food, textiles, flowers, and plants. Like many other people, I like to come here for lunch: whether you're craving Tibetan noodles, Chinese dumplings, or Marrocan pancakes, you'll for sure find something that satisfies your cravings. Most of the lunch options will typically be around 5-8€ which is nice in an expensive city like Antwerp, where you'd pay double to eat in a cafe or restaurant.
The market is also a great place to go when you're organizing a picnic or dinner party and want to get some delicious aperitifs like cheeses, olives, bread, spreads, or charcuterie. It's also just a nice place to stroll around, people watch and enjoy the outdoors.
