This is the place I am never too bored to visit. It is actually the other way round. If you ever happen to ask me if and where I want to go out for a coffee or a beer in Exarcheia, my answer will always be: yes, let’s go to Kafeneio Navarinou. My friends don’t even bother asking me anymore.

Why I love this place so much? Well, it is one of those places that haven’t changed throughout the years. It has kept its original “greek kafeneio” style even though all around it new “in” places pop up all over the place. It serves beer and all styles of coffee in the most honest manner. And the people that own the place as well as the people that work there are always as friendly as can be. 

That’s it. Simple as that. I have been going there as a student, as a “working girl”, as a pregnant whale and as a mother with or without family. I hope to pass on the tradition.
