SNFCC – Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center – is the metropolitan park of Athens, made by famous architect Renzo Piano. It is something any cosmopolitan city must have: a big beautiful park where concerts and cultural events can take place but also a park where people can spend their time by enjoying a coffee or a glass of wine overlooking the canal.
Located in the south part of the city, at the end of Syggrou Avenue close to the coastline and only 15 minutes drive from the center, it’s the ideal place if you want a break from the city center. There are also shuttle buses that can take you there for free.
The National Opera and National Library are placed inside the park. SNFCC is also friendly for families with kids, as it has a playground for their entertainment. Sometimes they also organize yoga classes for free and different kind of seminars for every taste, or you can also use the chance to go rowing inside its famous canal! You can check their facebook page for more info about their activities and events.
For September you can also enjoy the “Dancing Fountain” that is astonishing!
PS: Please note that there are two entrances. One is at Evripidou Street next to the pin of the map, where its official address is.
