One of my favourite places near Athens and Piraeus that I often visit lately is Votsalakia beach.
I can say it is one of my dearest places to relax, as I love lying at its coast and enjoying the view of the sea and the view of Aegina island.
I have also swum sometimes at the sea, where is free and public there, but it is not the best idea, as it is in the city, so the water is not really clean! There are showers and toilets free of charge. I always prefer to swim at the open swimming pool that is located there ( you must be a member in order to swim there).
At Votsalakia, besides relaxing under the sun at its beach, you can also have a coffee/ drink/ lunch as there is a nice coffee place there. You can also play tennis, basketball or volleyball at their courts, which are open and free to everyone!
During summertime, there is also an open-air cinema where you can enjoy watching your movies while enjoying a cold beer.
You can go there by taking trolley bus no 20, which you can find opposite Piraeus’ train station (don’t take the trolley in front of the train station as it will take you to the other side of Piraeus!!).

The house is known for the two wonderful Caryatid sculptures located on the balcony of its facade. The house was built in the late 19th century and is a typical example of Athenian neoclassicism.

My favorite morning walk in the Monastiraki Flea Market always ends with a visit to Zaharias Records. Here I can browse a huge and ever-changing collection of second-hand vinyl records and CDs and always discover something to buy.

Agios Ioannis of the Column is one of the most interesting hidden attractions in the center of Athens. The church was built in the 6th century AD, and its sanctuary was formed around an ancient Corinthian column.

Street art has developed mainly in large urban centres, and Athens is no exception. The Psirri neighbourhood in the city centre is inextricably linked to the history of street art in Athens.

Many artists, musicians, actors, and painters have relocated to Mets, giving it a more bohemian feel. There are only a handful of shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants in the area, a fact that creates a more intimate and cosy atmosphere.

The unique pancakes at Buho (sweet and savory) are in my opinion, the best I have tried in the city and the menu has enough options to satisfy all tastes.

A well-cooked pita, a juicy burger, tomato, and onion are a unique and tasty combination. It is the epitome of delicious simplicity.

My favourite burger is the Bacon Mushroom Melt, and my favourite sandwich is the Tika, which is slightly spicy and causes a chain of flavour explosions!
