In my life, I hate everything that has to do with racism. Οne of the things I cannot accept is judging people by their colour and where they come from. One of the ways I like approaching different cultures is through gastronomy. That's why I love visiting ethnic restaurants around Athens and making my daily life more cosmopolitan and colourful. The last entry in my collection of ethnic restaurants is Yankadi!
There is a saying that Facebook's algorithm knows you better than your boy/girlfriend and that's true! I discovered Yankadi when Facebook suggested I give it a visit. So we organized our monthly "Spotters meeting" there and we had was a super nice and cool time!
Yankadi is run by a couple from Ivory Coast. Their main dish, and their speciality, is fish with rice and salad with a great yellow sauce! They also serve rice with different types of sauce - please be careful with the red one they bring on the side, it is super spicy! My favorite dish was the fried plantain bananas. If you feel like eating something sweet after lunch, they have a strange white sweet which I still haven't realised what it is, inside plastic bottles!
Apart from the food, I enjoyed their hospitality and kindness! And I also like how it was decorated: with drawings of African flags on the wall, next to a flag of the European Union!
PS: They don't speak English or Greek, only French :). Check their FB page for accurate times.
