My favorite thing about the Brass Union is the neighborhood it’s located in, honestly. Tucked away from the traffic in Somerville’s Union Square, this bar offers a great selection of craft beer and fine whiskey with yummy American-style food.
My real love is Union Square. This neighborhood is a little off the beaten track, primarily because Boston’s famous train system, The T, doesn’t have a stop near here. So, unless you’re going to take a bus or a Lyft, it isn’t so easy to get here. But don’t let that stop you!
Union Square is filled with lively shops and restaurants, has a beautiful tree-lined atmosphere, and is just a fun place to go. Brass Union is a great place to start the night. Take a seat at the well appointed old fashioned style bar and help yourself to one of the beers on their very extensive beer list.
For dinner, the last time I was there I got the veggie burger and it was homemade, no frozen patty. Crumbled as I ate it, which I love. My boyfriend got the fish and chips which they managed to make taste light and fresh, not oily and nasty. I highly recommend getting a drink at the Brass Union if you’re making the trip to Union Square.
