I discovered Cacao thanks to a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift from my son — a delightful box of chocolates. After indulging in them quickly, I couldn’t resist visiting the cafe to try their offerings in person.
On a chilly, snowy Boston afternoon, I decided to treat myself to a hot chocolate topped with fresh bitter chocolate chunks and cream. Upon entering, I was immediately warmed by the friendly smile of the staff. Struggling to decide from the tempting selection of chocolates and pastries, I ended up buying nearly one of every truffle variety. I found an empty table by the shelves filled with charming decor and happily settled in. Though the cafe was busy, a peaceful silence filled the space as everyone was absorbed in their own activities. I had found my perfect spot for reading and writing, a true refuge!
Cacao is run by a lovely couple from the Dominican Republic, Perla Rosario and Leo Baez. Their signature spicy hot chocolate, a special creation from their homeland, is a must-try. For chocolate and coffee enthusiasts, Cacao truly feels like a sweet haven. I was particularly fond of the Aztec spiced truffle.
If you haven’t yet visited, make sure to add this gem to your list and indulge in a cup of their rich cocoa or coffee at one of Boston’s top cafes. You won’t regret it!
