As a vegetarian (and a heathen for actually liking cream cheese in my rolls), I can't claim to be a sushi/sashimi expert. I can however tell you that Genki Ya is the best darn sushi place in Boston for vegetarians/vegans because THEY ACTUALLY HAVE OPTIONS. That's right, no more sad-cucumber-roll-because-it's-the-only-thing-you-can-eat nights; Genki Ya has a whole page of delicious vegetarian maki for you to stuff your face with. And no worries, real sushi eaters, there are plenty of options for you too, and while I can't personally attest to it, I've been told they're delicious.
Another plus of Genki Ya is that you can get white rice subbed out for either multi-grain or brown rice, if you want to feel extra healthy. If not, you can still feel okay about yourself because all their rolls are organic!
There are a couple different Genki Ya locations scattered around Boston, so you can choose whichever one is most convenient! For atmosphere (date night, group event, etc.), I'd suggest the downtown location. It's got a nice bar, big windows, and is right near the Boylston Street T station for easy access. For a quick bite on your lunch break, check out the one in Brookline. Whichever you choose, you're going to leave full and happy!
