If you’re in the mood for a good beer and a little entertainment in an unexpected environment, I advise you to visit Filousophe. The name is a play on the word ‘filou’ (crook) but I assure you that this place is worth its weight in gold. The bar, or should I say cabaret/events venue, is located in an old train station next to Train World (a train museum). Everything is grand, from the theatrical stage to the enormous counter, including an actual train carriage converted into a smokers’ lounge.

I love the atmosphere and the fact that the staff is very caring and helpful. The train carriage is wonderfully odd – you can rent it for private events. I can’t wait to see the place in summer: its big terrace and cool walls will certainly be an advantage. Foodwise, they have a relatively short menu with Belgian classics such as croquettes. The drinks menu is where they shine, with plenty of quality beers, some wine, and some spirits.

Filousophe is proud of its many events, including game nights, comedy nights, DJ nights, and concerts. It is a great place for a drink among friends.
